Background-About Me

Early years

From a young age, I've been drawn to helping others in pain. Volunteering at my local hospital, I supported elderly patients nearing the end of life. This early experience set me on a path that would later lead me to work as a death doula for 10 years and care for my mother, who endured intense pain. Through these experiences, I've gained a deeper understanding of pain and its impact on individuals and families.”

Personal Pain Journey

"My personal experience with a mesh implant for stress urinary incontinence went horribly wrong as is the case for thousands of people. This experience has given me profound understanding of the challenges many women face around pelvic surgery. After multiple surgeries, I have been left with nerve damage, chronic pain complex pain with neuropathy, digestive issues and more. However, this journey has also sparked a passion within me to explore further holistic approaches to pain management. Through my own healing journey, I've discovered the importance of empowering others to take control of their pain. I believe that pain can be a catalyst for creativity and growth, and I'm committed to supporting others on their own paths to healing and self-discovery."

Lets cut to the Chase

I am not making light of this mesh experience. Every time I had to eliminate, the pain in my spine and pelvis was excruciating, like an intense toothache. The mesh felt like a tight noose around my pelvis, tugging and pulling, causing my muscles to contract violently and triggering extreme pain because  it was postioned in place too tightly. Now that the mesh has been removed the body still replicates the experience, perhaps due to the memory and this body response has been with me now for 18 years. So I still grapple with pain and the surgery related nightmares are only just subsiding. There are also other multiple problems that have arisen from this experience.

"My self-care routine includes:

- Cacao ceremonies or just simply drinking a cup whilst honouring the medicine,

- Micro-movements with breath awareness

- Cultivating stillness and slowing thoughts

- Personalized imagery and visualization

- Humor therapy

- Anti-inflammatory lifestyle habits, including:

    - 16:8 intermittent fasting

    - Hydration with plenty of water”

    - Alkaline foods as much as possible.

    - Huge reduction in sugar consumption.

Emotional Pain and trauma

"My journey with complex PTSD has been a lifelong path of growth, discovery, and healing. Marked by pain and challenge, it's also led me to unexpected treasures in compassion, empathy, and self-awareness. I've navigated intense emotions like anger and feelings of abandonment, and explored the intergenerational trauma that shaped my family's experiences, including my Polish heritage and the deportations during World war II. This journey has sparked a deep dive into esoteric traditions and mysticism, fostering a profound understanding of myself and the world.” It is a neverending journey and unfolding story.

"Two devastating losses shaped my life: my brother's tragic passing to assisted suicide at 18, just 7 months after my father's sudden death. This double blow had a profound impact on me and my mother. A decade later, her serious stroke left her disabled, and a subsequent cancer diagnosis led to my role as her guardian and carer, a journey that spanned 31 years and evolved in many ways."

Lessons from Mother

"Despite her complexities, my mother was a perfectionist with high standards, often critical and pedantic. Yet, as she navigated her illnesses, she developed a remarkable sense of humor, often laced with satire. Her ability to laugh at herself and the world was refreshingly spontaneous, and it brought a new dimension to her personality.”

"In a moment that still brings smiles, my mother showed remarkable spirit when we were told she had just 24 hours to live due to sepsis. As her body began to shut down, I whispered words of love and encouragement, but she unexpectedly opened her eyes and requested a glass of Baileys. The others in the room were shocked, yet her resilience and humor brought laughter and warmth. We shared a glass together, a poignant moment that remains a cherished memory of determination, will and of course humour.

Living with and helping others with Chronic Pain

"I've empowered others by connecting them with experienced holistic practitioners for pain management. While I enjoy providing treatments, my current focus is on sharing simple daily self-care routines to help manage pain. I also encourage finding humor and positivity in living with chronic pain, as daily challenges can trigger anxiety and worry. By incorporating stress management techniques and daily spiritual practices, individuals can maintain healthy mental perspectives and cultivate a sense of community and shared understanding.” After all, we are all in this together.

“So let's transform our pain, anxiety, and worry into creative fuel. By reawakening our senses, we can tap into our body's innate wisdom and discover a new path forward. This journey allows us to cultivate joy, appreciation, and self-love, embracing what we can do and nurturing a deeper, more compassionate relationship with ourselves."
